Full packing
The packing crew works room by room, wrapping breakables in paper, filling boxes so nothing shifts inside, and labeling each carton with the room it belongs to and roughly what is inside. By the time the loading crew arrives, the house is boxed and stacked.
We use dish barrels for glassware, wardrobe boxes so hanging clothes stay on the hanger, and picture cartons for anything framed. Grocery store boxes tend to soften and collapse once they are stacked in a warm truck, so we skip them.
Partial packing for the tricky rooms
Plenty of families pack their own books, linens, and closets and hire us just for the kitchen, the dining room, and anything fragile. That way the cost stays lower while the pieces most likely to break get handled by people who pack them daily.
Tell the estimator which rooms you want covered and the quote gets built around exactly that, nothing more, so you are only paying for the packing you actually need.
Unpacking at the new home
Unpacking means the crew empties boxes onto counters and into closets, hangs clothes, sets dishes back in cabinets, and reassembles furniture before hauling the flattened cardboard away with them.
For anyone starting a new job the following Monday, this is usually the part people say they valued most, because the house looks lived in by dinner instead of two weeks later.
Electronics and anything fragile
Televisions and computers get photographed before the cables come out, then wrapped and boxed with the cords bagged and labeled so nothing gets mismatched on the other end.
Anything you would rather not trust to a box, such as jewelry or important documents, is fine to carry yourself. We will point those items out during the walk-through.
Materials that hold up on the road
Whether the truck is going three miles or three hours, the box has to survive being stacked and stacked on top of. That is why we stick with proper moving cartons rather than whatever is free behind a grocery store.
For anyone packing part of the house themselves, we can drop off materials ahead of time along with a short rundown of what tends to trip people up, mostly around heavy items going in small boxes rather than large ones.
